Event Details
The Family Place Workshop is a five-week parent/child workshop designed to benefit the livelihood of parents/caregivers and provide an early-learning source for your young infant/toddler. The workshop will be held once per week for five consecutive weeks and will run about 75 minutes. Each session will feature a childcare professional who can provide your family with valuable early childcare resources and information.
Family Place is focused on child-led play that will help your infant/toddler with various skills by:
- Increasing social and verbal interaction
- Supporting bonding and attachment between parents and their very young children
- Promoting early learning
- Providing access to developmentally appropriate toys and materials
- Beginning the process of lifelong learning
The Family Place Workshop not only benefits your young child, but will provide several benefits to you as a parent/caregiver, such as:
- Increasing awareness of library services
- Increasing awareness of community agencies and services
- Lessening parents’ feelings of isolation
- Increasing knowledge of child development, early literacy, and learning
- Promoting interactions between parents and children
- Supporting parents in their role as first teacher
- Encouraging and empowering families
*Please register once for your family. Each registrant will be signed up for all five sessions. Siblings who are 5 and younger are welcome to join and can also benefit from the free-play activities and playing with their little sibling(s), but the focus will be on the 1-3 age range.
