The Benbrook Public Library now offers a “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program. This program is designed to encourage families to read aloud to their children, especially those that have not yet entered kindergarten. Research shows that the single most important activity caregivers and teachers can do to help children become successful readers is to read aloud to them every day.
Children ages birth through 5 are encouraged to participate in this online program. You will log the titles of the books that are read to your child; this includes books read during storytime at the library! Participants will receive prizes after 250, 500, 750, and 1000 books are read.
We use a software called Beanstack to track the number of books you have read. You will need to register and create a new account. Beanstack will allow for one account with multiple children registered.
There is also an app that you can use to help you keep track of all the books that you have read. Search for "Beanstack Tracker" in your phone’s app store. Click on the Beanstack logo below to create a new account!
