Requests for Information Under the Texas Information Act (Open Records Requests)

The Texas Public Information Act (Texas Open Records Act), Chapter 552, Texas Government Code, establishes requirements for governmental bodies to respond to written requests for access and/or reproductions of public information. Charges for reproductions are governed by the State of Texas Attorney General's Office Rules on Charges.

To request information from the Benbrook Library District, send an email to the Library Director. Other requests must be in writing and may be submitted:

In person at:

1065 Mercedes Street
Benbrook, Texas 76126

Include enough description and detail about the information requested to enable the District to accurately identify and locate the information requested. Include your contact information: name, address, email address and telephone number.

There is a cost of $.10 per page for copies made. If the cost will be more than $40, an itemized bill will be sent to you for your acceptance before the request can be filled. You will have 10 business days to respond to the bill, or the original request will be considered withdrawn

Please note that the Public Information Act requires the District to provide copies of existing records, but does not require the District to create records that do not currently exist. Also note that the Act provides a detailed list of certain types of records that are prohibited or excluded from disclosure (PDF).
