What is 3D Printing?
3D Printing is the process of creating three-dimensional objects from a special digital file. Objects are printed in our 3D printers by heating plastic filament in order to build up many thin layers of material required to create your 3D model.
We have three 3D Printers with a variety of filaments and colors for your needs. You must schedule an appointment in our MakerSpace to access the printers. Email ted@benbrooklibrary.org with any questions or files you would like us to look over before your appointment.
Getting Started
1. There are many websites such as Thingiverse.com Yeggi.com or Printables.com that provide free or low-cost designs ready to print. All files must be in STL format.
2. Depending on the object's size, it can take anywhere from 1-6 hours, with larger jobs taking longer.
3. Our 3D printers are free to use, however a charge of 10ยข per gram will be based on the weight of the completed model. Due to the variety of print setting options, we are unable to quote 3D print prices beforehand.
