My name is Steve and I am the Library Director. I began working with the Benbrook Public Library in August 2011. I am involved in managing the library’s budget and administrative responsibilities and supporting the staff in delivering programs and services. I work with the staff and Board of Trustees in strategic planning and implementing new ideas. I have a BA and an MA from the University of Texas at Arlington focusing on International Relations and another master’s degree from the University of North Texas in Information Science. I enjoy reading and researching non-fiction material related to history, politics, and languages, and especially like helping individuals find information and develop skills that improve their lives.
My name is Erica and I am the Assistant Director. I have been with the library since September 2014, and I now live in Benbrook as well. My background is in Community Engagement, so you will see me out and about talking about the library and how we can help you. I also work with social media, so make sure to follow our facebook, instagram and twitter feeds! My bachelor’s degree is from Texas Tech University in English Literature, and I graduated from the University of North Texas with my master’s degree in Library Science. I love to read, and my guilty pleasure reading is urban fantasy.
Hello, my name is Miranda and I have been the Youth Services Librarian at the Benbrook Public Library since February 2001. I am responsible for all of the children and teen programing and collection development at the Library. My days are filled with various tasks including juggling the informational needs of teens and planning fun storytimes for preschoolers. I feel I have the best job in the world! I have a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas. I am always available to answer questions and help you find your way through our library.
Hello, my name is Cullen and I’m the Adult Services Librarian. I’ve been with the library since November 2011. My main responsibilities are developing the adult collections, planning and implementing programs for adults, promoting library services, and helping patrons meet their various library-related needs. I have a bachelor’s degree in Advertising from the University of Oklahoma (sorry, Texas fans) and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of North Texas. I primarily read fiction of various genres, and my favorite authors are Stephen King, Gillian Flynn, Fredrik Backman, and David Sedaris. Hello! My name is Sheryl and I have been a happy resident of Benbrook for 6 years. I first started out at Benbrook Public Library in February 2015 as a volunteer. I was then hired on as a page in April of that same year. In October of 2016, I was promoted to Library Assistant. After almost two years at that position I was promoted to Circulation Manager. My duties now include overseeing the Circulation Staff and making sure things run smoothly in the Circulation Department. Of course, I love to read and I really like non-fiction, biographies and autobiographies. If you have any questions or concerns please call or come in and ask for me, I would love to help you.
My name is James and I am the STEM Coordinator/Instructional Designer and I run the Makerspace here at the Library. In 2017, I started out as the Makerspace Assistant part-time and switched to my current position in 2020. I am here to help you with all of your 3D printing, engraving, poster printing, and other technology needs. I am also here to help and cultivate all your STEM needs through educational programming. I have been with the library since November 2017. I have a BA from the University of Texas at Arlington and a MS in Learning Technology (Instructional Design) from the University of North Texas. I have been a resident of Benbrook since 2013. I have a wife a son, a Boston Terrier, a Pug, and a sulcata tortoise. I spend any spare time woodworking, or restoring old equipment.
My name is Phyllis and I’m a Librarian Assistant. I made the move to this position in October 2012. You will find me working with the librarians or at the information desk. I started as a volunteer in 2009 at Benbrook Library and was hired in October 2010 as a Library Assistant. I attended Minnesota State University-Mankato and South Central College. I learned sign language to better communicate with others. I have worked for high school, elementary school and public libraries in Minnesota and Iowa. I spend my leisure time on photography, digital scrapbooking and finding the best deals the area has to offer.
Hi there! I have been a resident of Benbrook since 2008 and loved bringing my daughter to Story Time when she was little. I taught high school and middle school for 14 years, but decided to make a change in the spring of 2019 when I applied at the Benbrook Library. I am the Librarian Assistant in Adult Services. I help maintain our collection and produce our adult programming. In my free time, I enjoy reading historic fiction, sewing and gardening. I feel privileged to serve the Benbrook community and love working here!
Hello, my name is Libby and I’m the Admin Assistant, providing support for the staff at Benbrook Library District. We moved to Benbrook in 1986 and so have witnessed the Library’s growth. In my spare time I enjoy cooking with my grandkids and training my Red Heeler, Ginger. Travel is also high on my bucket list. So pleased to be working with good people and in such a peaceful environment.
My name is Krystal and I am the Interlibrary Loan Specialist. I started here at Benbrook in May 2018 as a Library Assistant. In October 2020, I made the move to my new interlibrary loan (ILL) position. I help request items from lending libraries all over the country. Once the items are received, I process all of the materials and get them ready for you to enjoy. If you ever need help finding materials we don’t own in our collection, I’m here to help! I love to read and have been around books my entire life, so working at the library feels like home to me. I’m excited to be working in such a great community and I look forward to helping everyone!
Hi, my name is Joyce. I became a volunteer with BNPL in 2014. My desire was to become part of library staff. I received a Library Technician Certification of Completion after taking library courses at TCC Trinity River Campus. I find working in the library a welcomed, refreshing, challenging, and rewarding change. I am enjoying my role here. I appreciate you for giving me an opportunity to serve the patrons in the Benbrook Community as a Library Assistant. Some of my hobbies are: reading, shopping, jewelry making, sewing, crocheting, visiting the movie theater regularly, and spending time with family. Future hobbies are: photography & traveling.
My name is Lori and I am a Library Assistant. I began as a volunteer with our library in early 2017 and joined the permanent staff in September of that same year. Throughout my career I have held a variety of clerical positions - many of them were working with the military. As a book lover, I really enjoy working in the library, and it is exciting serving and being around people who like reading as much as I do!
My name is George and I am the Library IT Specialist. I began working with the Benbrook Public Library in October 2014. I am responsible for the maintenance of all our staff and public use computer equipment to include the printers, two servers and Internet. I spend my days patching and updating software, exploring new Computer Technology to help our library meet the every growing demands of you, our public. I train and assist you with your their daily computer usage, helping to make your computer experience more enjoyable in a hope that you one day are knowledgeable and more independent. I have an associate’s degree from ITT Technical Institute of Aurora, Colorado in Computer Network Systems Administration. I am a Retired Air Force Veteran and owe my love of computers and all the technology surrounding it to the service of my country and it’s my hope to pass that energy on to you here at Benbrook.
